Making our own game

Today Argam, Matthew, Brayden and Ihaka were playing a game outside.  They were using plastic pipes and guttering to tag each other with. When they were asked about the rules of the game they didn't have any.  Ihaka came up with the idea of when someone is tagged they have to lie down and count to 10 slowly then they can get a plastic pipe and try tagging too.  You are only allowed to tag on the foot carefully.

Pizza Sharing

In Maths, we have been learning what the word 'equal' means and how to share equally. Our teacher gave us a pizza that had been cut into halves or quarters. We had to pretend to be a pizza chef and make pizza toppings with play dough. We then had to share the toppings equally on to each piece of the pizza.

Playing with a friend

Brayden and Ava decided to play with the skittles outside.  Brayden saw a line on the concrete and thought that would be a great place to line up the skittles.  Once Ava and Brayden lined the skittles up Ava counted them.  She discovered that there were 16 skittles.  Brayden made the rule of standing on the ring when you rolled the ball to make sure the game was fair.  Both Brayden and Ava showed wonderful turn taking and helping each other to stand the skittles up again.

Matthew and Brayden were playing teachers.
Brayden was being the teacher and Matthew was the student. They were practising phonics and their letters. Brayden was showing Matthew how to write a k. They also played Authors Chair where Matthew was writing and Brayden gave him a hand for good writing and asked him to share to the others his writing.

Skittles

Easy Blog Photo
It was a rainy day today and Brayden wanted to play skittles.  He decided to play inside but he made up some rules in his game before he allowed some other children to join in.  Brayden ruled a line with the chalk on the carpet to show where all the children had to stand behind when they rolled the ball.  He then ruled another line to show where the skittles lined up.  Brayden discovered  that if you line all the skittles  up in one long line you can only knock one or two skittles over but if the skittles are all together in a bunch you can knock lots over!  Brayden's skittle game was very popular with some of the other children.

Comparing Houses

Easy Blog Photo

On our Friday Surprise Day we have been looking at a variety of houses and what makes them similiar and what makes them different. Our buddy and I made a house out of playdough.  We didn't peek at our buddies house while we created them but when we finished we compared our houses.
"Our houses are different because Romeo's house has a tunnel and Argam and Brayden's doesn't. Brayden's house has a door and so does Romeos and that is same.   All our houses have walls and that is the same.

My Puppet

Easy Blog Photo

Here is a picture of Brayden and his puppet, Earl. Te Kakano made puppets for Friday Surprise Day and our Whakangahau. We had to think about all the parts our puppets would need. We also had to show persistence to make sure the parts stayed on and looked how we planned it.

"I put the eyes on with the glue and one eye fell off. It was hard. The yellow bits are the pants."

Beach Day

Frankley School went to Nga Motu Beach for the day. After we had some morning tea, Te Kakano went down to the sand to build sculptures and sand castles.

Brayden had lots of fun running on the beach with his friends. He then practiced writing the letters of his name in the sand with stick. Then he helped his friends to build sand castles.

"I liked writing my name in the sand and Rachael helped me."

After lunch, we went for a swim. Brayden had a lot of fun splashing in the waves.

"I liked swimming in the water. I jumped over the waves."
